The Kennedy Day School Project Excel Program is hosting their fifth annual food drive!  The food drive will take place from November 10th through December 23rd.  The food collected will be brought to the Brighton APAC (Area Planning Action Council) Food Pantry, which is a local organization that services families in the Allston/Brighton areas.  The people who receive the food qualify for it dependent upon their income.

If you would like to participate, please bring a food item in and drop it in the donation boxes located in the KDS Office, Hospital Main Lobby, Pastoral Care, Cafeteria,, Building 8 (by the elevator), and Outpatient Department.  The students from Project Excel will be collecting the items each afternoon.

Suggested shopping list for Holiday Food Drive

MEAT/HIGH PROTEIN

• Canned meats:  ham meat spreads, stews
• Canned chicken
• Canned fish including, tuna salmon, sardines, other fish
• Nuts and seeds
• Macaroni and cheese

DAIRY

• Evaporated milk
• Powdered milk
• Aseptic milk
• Canned processed cheeses
• Puddings and custards

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

• Canned fruits:  canned apricots, oranges, pineapples, applesauce, fruit cocktail
• Canned juices:  apple, cranberry, tomato and vegetable
• Canned green vegetables:  pinto/navy/red beans, canned potatoes, corn, and tomatoes
• Canned soups

BREADS AND CEREALS

• Hot and cold breakfast cereals, including oatmeal and cream of wheat
• Baking mixes:  pancake, corn bread, cake mixes/icing, quick breads
• Noodles:  macaroni, spaghetti, all pasta types
