(Boston-September 24, 2015) – Franciscan Hospital for Children, the leading pediatric rehabilitation center in New England, announced today that Aimee Carew-Lyons RN, MSN, PhD, has been hired as Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.

Most recently, Lyons was the Director of Nursing & Patient Services for the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Transport Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. In her role as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Franciscan Hospital for Children, Lyons is responsible for overseeing the delivery of personalized, compassionate care to all children who visit the hospital.  Lyons has an extensive background that spans healthcare management and nursing. Her first position as a nurse 25 years ago was at Franciscan Hospital for Children, so she understands and believes in the mission and importance of the hospital in Massachusetts’ healthcare landscape.

“Aimee brings expertise in evidence-based care and the leadership drive we need to make sure that expert care is pervasive across the organization ,” said John D. Nash, President and CEO. “Aimee knows the hospital well and understands why we place a heavy importance on family-centered care that is customized to the needs of the individual child and family. At the same time, she recognizes that sound business management practices will allow us to offer services to even more children in the days ahead.”

Lyons holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University and a Master’s in Science of Nursing and Ambulatory Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Boston College. She also conducted a research project on how dog visitation can affect a child’s mood in an inpatient acute care setting. Aimee is in the last stage of  completing her Doctor of Philosophy in Population Health program at University of Massachusetts Boston. She resides in Roslindale, Mass. with her partner, four daughters and two dogs.
