Franciscan Hospital for Children Appoints New Vice-President of Ambulatory Services

BOSTON – Franciscan Hospital for Children is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Hand as Vice President of Ambulatory Services at the hospital, where he will be responsible for overseeing the Pediatrics, Dental Clinic, Operating Room and Rehabilitation Medicine divisions.

“Sean’s experience and oversight abilities make him a natural fit for Franciscan Hospital for Children,” said Franciscan Hospital President and CEO John D. Nash.  “We look forward to having his presence further define us as one of the top children’s hospitals.”

Mr. Hand brings over 20 years of healthcare management experience to Franciscan Hospital.  Most recently, he served as Vice President of Ancillary Services for Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford as part of the Hallmark Health System.  In that role, he was responsible for overseeing several departments, including Laboratory, Imaging, Cardiac & Endovascular, Medical Cardiology, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Pharmacy, and Credentialing & Health Information Management.

Mr. Hand was a prior Director of Health Information Management at both Hallmark Health and Tufts Medical Center.  He began his healthcare career as a Medic in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Hand has extensive experience in facility redesign, signage and wayfinding, organizational training and development, revenue cycle management, Health Information Systems (HIS) application implementation, HIPAA, and use of LEAN performance improvement methods to re-engineer processes.

Mr. Hand relocated to Boston from Pittsburgh after college.  A devoted family man, Mr. Hand has also been known to serenade patients and fellow staff members over the years with his guitar playing and singing skills.
