Joseph O’Keefe, S.J. Joins Franciscan Hospital for Children Board of Directors

(Boston, MA – May 19, 2015) – Franciscan Hospital for Children, the leading pediatric rehabilitation center in New England, announced today that Joseph Michael O’Keefe, S.J., has been appointed to the Hospital’s Board of Directors. Fr. O’Keefe is currently a professor with tenure at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education.

Fr. O’Keefe’s extensive background serving on various boards over the past 20 years more than qualifies him to further the philosophies and successes of the Hospital.  He currently serves on the National Assessment Governing Board for the US Department of Education. He has served on a number of high school and college boards, including Marquette University, the College of the Holy Cross, Boston College High School and many others.

Fr. O’Keefe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the College of the Holy Cross. He also holds degrees from Fordham and Boston College.  He received his doctorate in Education from Harvard University. He is an accomplished writer, with numerous published works, and he is also a highly sought after speaker. Fr. O’Keefe is a past winner of the F. Sadlier Dinger Award, Ed Press Award for Most Learned Article and Award for the Best Research Paper of 1993. Fr. O’Keefe served as Dean of the Lynch School of Education from 2005 until 2011 and as Associate Dean from 2001-2003. He has been a member of the Lynch School faculty since 1991. He currently resides in Chestnut Hill, MA.
