A Fond Farewell to Kennedy Hope Academy
Last week was a big week for several students of Kennedy Hope Academy (KHA) as final preparations were made for their transitions to new placements. After months of planning and cooperative efforts between school systems, parents and other facilities, these young men were headed to new homes.
“We’re pleased that we were able to keep a cohort of the boys together as they move on,” said Franciscan Hospital for Children’s Chief Operating Officer, Donna Polselli. “Continuity is important and the KHA staff has worked hard to minimize the impact of change on the young men we’ve had the privilege to serve.”
Last week staff coordinated “Kennedy Hope Academy Spirit Week” and a goodbye party as the culmination of the students’ experience in the program and a celebration of their accomplishments. Employees from all across the Hospital stopped by to wish the young men well. Addresses were exchanged and pen pals were established.
There have been so many memorable moments we’ve shared with our friends from Kennedy Hope Academy over the years. Best wishes to these young men as they continue on their journey – it has been our privilege to watch you grow!
