Franciscan Hospital for Children Director of Safety and Security Named to Stop Healthcare Violence Board of Directors

BOSTON (August 29, 2014) – Franciscan Hospital for Children is pleased to announce the appointment of Director of Safety and Security, Mark J. Dutra, to the Stop Healthcare Violence Board of Directors.  Stop Healthcare Violence is a non-profit organization committed to maintaining the safety of all Healthcare providers and their families.

Dutra brings more than twenty five years in the safety and security management business to his role at Franciscan Hospital for children, experience that made him a natural fit for the Stop Healthcare Violence Board of Directors. “I’m thrilled to be part of an organization committed to ending  aggression in the workplace,” said Dutra. “People need to feel comfortable and confident in their work environments; Stop Healthcare Violence gives people the tools to do just that. ”

In addition to his work in the field of healthcare safety and security management, Dutra developed a self-defense program focused on domestic abuse survivors, which he still teaches today. He has written and lectured extensively on the topic of crisis intervention, personal safety and workplace violence prevention.

“Mark is a professional who knows how safety and stability contribute to wellness and healing.  We are pleased that his talents can benefit not only the hospital staff, but the families we serve and the local community,” said hospital President and CEO, John D. Nash. “The staff at Franciscan Hospital for Children are collectively the greatest asset of the organization.  We applaud those whose passion and commitment to others transcends both their personal and professional endeavors.  Mark’s appointment is a wonderful example of how our employees can do good work within and beyond their roles at the hospital.”
