Ten-Year-Old Paulina Lopez to Be Released from Franciscan Children’s to Spend Thanksgiving at Home
WHO/WHAT: On Wednesday, November 23, 10-year-old Paulina Lopez of East Boston will be discharged from Franciscan Children’s, where she has been treated for Acute Flaccid Myelitis, a neurological illness with sudden onset that affects the spinal cord and limbs. Paulina also has Down syndrome but was a healthy child – yet when she arrived at Franciscan Children’s, she was unable to walk. Paulina’s progress during her stay in the Franciscan inpatient unit means she will be with her family at the Thanksgiving dinner table this year!
A comprehensive Franciscan Children’s team has worked with Paulina over the course of her stay to help her make great strides. Through the help of this team and the support of her family, Paulina will be discharged and get to return home.

WHERE: Franciscan Children’s
